The Harmony Boys quartet music that you may download from this website and play has been recorded in MP3 format at a lower quality than the original music from the CDs to reduce the file size and thus reduce the download time to your computer. I still enjoy the music at this quality but better quality music can be obtained from the original recordings which are available at the address shown below.
This is one of my favorite gospel quartets and I have spent many hours listening to the music from the four CDs. I am delighted that Michael Wood has given me permission to make this available for your enjoyment and appreciation.

The Harmony Boys quartet began in the winter of 1983 while the four were students at Harding University. An annual gospel quartet competition was being held in Oklahoma City that spring and the group decided to enter. After practicing for a couple of weeks, the group made their way to Oklahoma and won third place in the competition. Having enjoyed their brief time together and hearing glowing comments about the "tight harmony" from their listeners, the group decided to stay together and tour whenever the opportunities presented themselves. The Harmony Boys used their concerts to spread the news of Christian education and especially Harding University. Though not official representatives of Harding, the group helped on numerous occasions to recruit and promote this great institution.
During New Year's Day of the years 1984, 1986, 1988, and 1990, The Harmony Boys recorded four albums of traditional hymns and gospel quartet music. Each member came from families where singing was of great importance. In fact, each member's father had sung in their own quartet, for fun and professionally.
Michael Wood, second tenor, is from Searcy, Arkansas. Being a "preacher's kid" he has lived in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. In the spring of 2000, Michael accepted an assistant professors position with the College of Education at Harding. Michael is married to the former Rhonda Fry of Piggott, Arkansas. They have three children Joshua, Ross and Emilee. Michael is a deacon in charge of song leaders at the College Church of Christ in Searcy.
