a. Made a five-week study tour of the Middle East in 1964. Went to England, France, Italy, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Greece and Egypt
b. Made a three-week study tour of Greece, Turkey and Iran in 1969
c. Flew around the world in 1965. Went to Hawaii, Fiji Islands, Australia, India, Iran, Turkey, Italy and England (about 29,000 miles)
d. Preached in Brisbane, Australia, campaign, 1965; Belfast, North Ireland, meeting, 1969

BACKGROUND:
a. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, April 16, 1930
b. Military record — Quit high school to join the army in 1947. Served 18 months and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant (18 years old at the time). Served 22 months in Army Reserve
c. Became a Christian as a student at Harding in 1949 and began to preach in October of that year
FAMILY:
a. Married the former Marilyn McCluggage in August 1951
b. Three children: Cindy (July 3, 1959) is now Mrs. Jeff Payne. She and her husband work with the Taylors Church in Greenville, S.C.; Jimmy (June 11, 1960) is preaching in Hartford, Ct.; Mike (Feb. 14, 1966) also working full time with the church in Hartford; Jimmy and Marilyn have seven grandchildren.
